Easier said than done, no doubt. What with being bombarded by ostentatious, sexually subjective and objectifying images and beauty standards everyday, one of the most difficult things for anyBODY to face, is self-acceptance. Through past experiences with self-loathing, depressed thoughts, and senseless perfectionism, I have learned to accept that I am not perfect, and that is one of the most perfect things about life. Among many other teenage girls, let alone earthlings, I spent many moments in life, that is so precious, obsessing over materialistic ideas of beauty, performance, and overall societal standards. It wasn't until recently, after life threw some difficult curve balls, that I learned to embrace life with positivity in that I have a body, flawed, but able and so capable of more than I could imagine. In ties with physical love, mental love is oh so crucial.
I remember watching one of my favourite guilty-pleasure TV shows a while back, the highly respected and talented designer Diane Von Furstenberg, once said:

"Beauty is health. If you're not healthy, you lose your beauty"

This goes in a physical sense as well as a mental sense, and I am a firm believer that beauty is where health is. By nourishing yourself with not only whole and healthy foods and rewarding your body with healthy exercise and meditation, nourishing the body with love is also essential to be beautiful.
Everyone on this earth is beautiful in their own way, despite what beauty standards say. Also, no matter what the situation, remember that I have what I have and I will work with whatever that may be because I am so fortunate to have this as my temple. Perfection is impossible, but progress is not and whatever that may be, a healthier heart, mind, attitude, digestive system, you can do it.
